We’re diving into timeless arias from Georges Bizet’s opera The Pearl Fishers.

The Pearl Fishers, by Georges Bizet, is set in ancient Ceylon, where two pearl divers, Nadir and Zurga, renew their friendship but fall in love with the same priestess, Leïla.  Their romantic rivalry and Leïla’s sacred vows lead to jealousy and conflict, culminating in Zurga’s sacrificial act to save the lovers, resulting in his own tragic fate.

This iconic duet, often excerpted as a standalone piece, features Nadir and Zurga reminiscing about their shared love for the priestess Leïla, whom they saw in a temple, pledging to preserve their friendship despite their rivalry. Its soaring melody and harmonious interplay make it one of opera’s most famous duets, frequently performed in concerts. #TimelessArias
