In 1849, Franz Liszt finalized his Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major. Sketched in his youth around 1830, it took years to be polished into a showcase of his virtuoso brilliance. Liszt premiered it in Weimar on February 17, 1855, with Berlioz conducting.
