Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 – 2nd Movement

We are continuing our exploration of 2nd movements of romantic piano concertos with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. #PianoAdagios

Frédéric Chopin composed his Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, before his Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11. He wrote Piano Concerto No. 2 in 1829, when he was about 19, and Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1830. However, due to publication order, the F minor concerto was labeled as No. 2 and the E minor as No. 1. The second concerto was premiered on March 17, 1830, in Warsaw, while the first followed on October 11, 1830. So, despite the numbering, Piano Concerto No. 2 was composed and performed first.
