We are continuing our exploration of 2nd movements of romantic piano concertos with Grieg’s Piano Concerto No. 1. #PianoAdagios

This is one of my favorite piano concertos of all time. Edvard Grieg composed this work in the summer of 1868 at the age of 25. He modeled this concerto on Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor. Sergei Rachmaninoff thought that Grieg’s piano concerto was the best concerto ever written and modeled his first piano concerto after Grieg’s.
